This thread is perfect for applique, and is pretty much a collection of colors that covers most of what you are appliqueing in a convenient size. The bobbins are tucked into a BobbinSaver for safe keeping and instant access to all colors! I have been using it for about a year now, still haven't used up a bobbin, even though there is a LOT of green and orange in that Stars 'n' Flowers quilt. I wouldn't suggest using it in your machine, because it will disappear very quickly. If you want to do that, then winding your own bobbins from spools would be the way to go. However, for applique, the amount on these bobbins is perfect. Over the years I have used a lot of different threads for my applique, first Mettler Polyester and their 100% cotton. Then I tried #100 YLI silk for a while, and DMC cotton, but they didn't really make me happy, for one reason or another. This thread is fine, hides in the fold of the motifs beautifully AND is sturdy, it does not shred! My applique travels with me almost daily in a bag, or sits next to me when I am spending time with my family, so I can work on it in spare moments. This way of carrying thread is so much more convenient than individual spools, besides the fact it is a wonderful thread! I thought that since I enjoyed using this thread so much, I would start carrying it here on my website, as it is not easy to find in shops. The Frosted Donut has 36 colors from Superior Threads MasterPiece™ Thread collection, 80 yards, prewound on L style bobbins. MasterPiece™ Thread is #50 100% extra-long staple Egyptian-grown cotton.
